A mid summer photoshoot to celebrate the beauty of summer with just a little hint of things to come.

Thanks to Lisa Cherry Hill Blooms for hosting us on her beautiful flower farm and for also modelling this beautiful new blouse that definitely has a wear now feel.

A few summers ago, I went to my favourite grocery store after work on a Saturday. There weren’t too many times I was there that I didn’t run into customers, but this time it was three different women, with three different styles, all wearing the same T-shirt in the same colour.

For many years, this T-shirt has been a customer favourite. It’s a comfortable blend of organic cotton and Tencel. It fits nicely and fits most people really well and I think the average one lasts about 3+ years of regular wear and washing while still looking exactly the same. And it dresses up really easily and goes with almost everything. It’s comfortable, versatile, built to last and natural fibres.

Consider trying one next time you’re in to see if it might be your new favourite. And if it’s already a favourite, consider adding a new colour or a back up basic as this is the last season for this style.

What a difference a year can make. The first picture is a view from the shop today & the other one was from last year’s Heritage Festival when I was in St Marys doing a pop up.

I met so many lovely, encouraging and supportive people and had a really great weekend visiting and when I left, I felt a little sad. because I could imagine myself and my business here but it really seemed like an insurmountable idea at the time.

But sometimes, you have to believe in the idea, work really, really hard and be willing to take a leap of faith and you can make a dream come true.

There have been a lot of steps to get here and lots of generous support- but I am excited to be joining the Heritage Festival this year as a resident of St Marys.

Here’s what I was wearing in Italy in October 15 or so years ago and I do remember being really hot and that I don’t think I wore one of the “fall things” I had packed in my luggage. This was in Cinque Terre.

So this is your friendly reminder to plan ahead for your tripes to Europe this fall since light layers are harder to find in shops once the new arrivals start to flow. It’s a great idea to consider what lighter layers you have and what you know you can wear in the warm temperatures we have here in the early fall and what the temperature will be like in your vacation destinations. Add a key piece or two while they are still available in the shops.

Two outside events next weekend☀️

Saturday as part of St Marys Stonetown Heritage Festival, we will have a Sidewalk Sale & one day in store specials as well. 10-4. Come join the downtown St Marys festivities & snag yourself a $20 deal. Come early for the best selection.

Sunday we will be popping up at Bulow Garden Centre in Mississauga from 10-4 & look forward to seeing all of our GTA customers and friends there. Spend some time in Hannah’s gorgeous green space, pick up some plants for your garden and shop al fresco.

Sometimes people are a little nervous about printed pants & if they are not for you - that’s okay. But, if you like the idea, and are just concerned about how you will match things, it’s not really that hard.

Think about a printed top - and you know to just match it up with a solid bottom that coordinates with one of the colours in the print. Same goes for a printed bottom. You could always go for a matching top if you like a matched set and you can almost always wear a neutral like a black if white tshirt, but there’s almost always some other interesting options. Have look at these for some ideas & let us know if you could use any help finding some options for something you already have.

Printed bottoms can also be a versatile option in your wardrobe but it’s good to have a couple of go to options at the start.

When I was folding my laundry yesterday, I realized that the thing I left off my personal style list was a good stripe. I know not everyone loves a stripe and I do my best not to be a stripe pusher - but it’s hard.

And a 3/4 sleeve is truly a year round clothing option. These are all the classic sailor stripe from Seasalt Cornwall and they are 100% organic cotton.
