As winter fades and the days grow longer, the arrival of spring brings renewed energy and opportunity. Warmer temperatures and clearer skies invite everyone back outdoors, especially those working in construction, landscaping, and other hands-on industries. After months of cold and limited activity, spring is a time to reset, refocus, and prepare for a productive season ahead.

With the return to outdoor work, safety should always come first. This is the perfect time to inspect, clean, and organize your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, high-visibility clothing, and protective footwear all play a crucial role in preventing injuries and ensuring a safe work environment. Equipment that may have been stored away during the winter should be checked for wear and tear, replaced if necessary, and made ready for daily use.

Spring is not just about getting back to work—it’s about doing so responsibly. By taking the time to prepare and prioritize safety, workers can confidently step into the new season knowing they are protected. After all, the goal remains the same: everybody goes home safely at the end of the day.

This is a poem written by WWI doctor John Macrae in May 3, 1915 after the death of his best friend Alexis Helmer. He was inspired by the sight of the red poppies growing between the graves of fallen soilders and wrote this:

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

Today, we take a moment to honor the brave men and women who made sacrifices in service to our nation, their memories indelibly marked in our hearts. The men and women who did not return, having sacrificed everything to improve our world. Lest we forget.

Hey Canada! Our company is so excited for Canada Day that we're taking the day off to eat the number one Canadian dish, drumroll please 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁... a nice warm bowl of poutine! We're off on July 1st, so please don't come knocking vigorously on our door; we would appreciate that very much. 😁
