Hooking close to an edge is an no go/annoyance of a standard hook. Our line anchor makes it a non issue.
Also employed the signature JP removal technique.. Definitely a go to method from now on.😂🥾💥🚀

This is a touchy topic that I approach with fear and trembling, knowing that there are other, strong points of view on..
That being said, this is my 2 bits which take into account the reality that as tradesmen, we bend over to 90 degrees at the waist all day long..
Basic rule of thumb, keep weight over your feet! If a belt is worn too high, it adds load to your upper body when bending over stressing your lower back, if worn too low when wearing suspenders, it too adds weight to your upper body and stresses your lower back when bending over..
whether wearing suspenders or not, wear your belt in line with the top of your pants. That way weight stays over your feet and also prevents your bags from tipping forward when bending over.
When adding suspenders to your rig, wear your belt approximately 1-1/2” looser so that when standing upright, the load sits on your shoulder, but when bending over, your belt drops slightly and bears on your thighs meaning your suspenders go loose and the load remains over your feet.

After being in the trades building for 25 years and constructing aprox 400 homes, (concrete and framing) this method of setup has helped me greatly.
I worked with no suspenders for about 10 years, then wore suspender off and on for 5, and then dialed in my set up to wear them 99% of the time and resolved over 90% of my back issues from years of abuse in the trades.

figured I’d bend these ends up instead of grinding them off so there would be nothing sharp to cut anything/anybody, but it got me in the process of making it safe.🤦‍♂️

Plunge cut 101. This is a super valuable skill but also a task that is dangerous if not done correctly.
The value/benefit of these cuts is hidden connections that leave a super nice finish.
Steps:
*before getting started, ensure that you chain is sharp, at the appropriate tension and your chain oil is topped up.
1) start the kerf with the bottom half of the tip of your bar. By angling up to the material, you resist the saws tenancy to run up the face and damage the finished surface.
2) once you’re about 2” deep, bring the saw up to level while running the saw at full throttle. You’ll also want to keep some forward pressure on the tip of the bar to start the plunge.
*note: the stability of the initial plunge cut is determined by a tight fit. If the bar has room and gets loose in the kerf, it can start to buck and threaten to kick back/out.
3)keeping the saw at full throttle, plunge the saw straight in while keeping an eye on the plane of your bar to ensure you’re staying square to your work piece.
4)Once you’ve reach the desired depth, keep the gas on and start a controlled and level decent down to the bottom of the cut.
*note: if you end up needing to enlarge/lengthen your cut, only do it cutting down. This will ensure the bar is being pulling into the material by the direction of the chain vs pushed out at you if you try using the top of the bar to cut up. Simply flip your work piece over if you need to cut the other direction.
