Yesterday I showed off one of my very favourite minerals, dioptase. Today I want to show off one of my other favourites; included quartz. This group includes rutile quartz, dendritic quartz and garden quartz. Each one is so unique!

First mistaken for emerald by Kazakh miners, dioptase is a gorgeous copper mineral. The colour is over the top amazing and it’s definitely one of my favourites! Dioptase only comes from a few locations in the world and is highly prized for its rarity and colour.

TLDR- fossils are cool, there was some cool discoveries made locally recently. Last 3 photos come from capebretonfossilcentre. They are cool and you should check them out both in social media and in person.

I’ve always loved dinosaurs because they are duh, they are cool.
I love science because it turns curiosity into knowledge and then builds on itself.
In my life, the idea of what dinosaurs were has changed so much. That all thanks to the hard and meticulous work of palaeontologists; even here in Cape Breton. Recent LOCAL finds of Arthropleura (giant centipede/millipede) tracks. Also (burying the lead) evidence of a very large tetrapod (vertebrate amphibians) show Cape Breton’s ancient history, and it was a lot busier than we once guessed.
You should check out capebretonfossilcentre both on their socials and in person. Satisfy your curiosity with some knowledge.
