This was a dress that required some major alterations! She was between sizes when ordering the dress so the shop sized up (perfectly normal!), between the time of ordering the gown and receiving the gown, the bride unintentionally lost some weight and resulted in a gown that was roughly 6-8 sizes too big for her.
Every. Single. Seam. Of this gown was taken apart, brought in, reshaped, and put back together. The chiffon overlay on the bodice was removed in order to access the princess seams that run vertically over the bust and torso and laid back overtop and gathered. The side seams were brought in, the back zipper was brought in. The dress cup had a bust reduction. The armscye’s were reshaped and cut down. The peek-a-book lace at the bust was recut and aligned to account for the narrowing of dress. The straps were shortened, the skirts were hemmed, and the train was bustled.
….and then it was perfect!
