Closet audits are so underrated.
It’s one of the biggest reasons our closets end up overflowing.
We keep buying new clothes without knowing what we already own. We hold onto pieces “just in case.” Before we know it, getting dressed feels overwhelming instead of easy. Instead of organizing more, try editing your wardrobe first.
Here’s a simple closet audit you can do this weekend:
1. Block off a full day on a weekend.
2. Take everything out of your closet and drawers.
3. Go through every piece and sort it into three piles:
- Keep
- Hold
- Donate
4. Take the donate pile out of your house.
Donate it to a local charity, sell it, gift it to a friend, or organize a clothing swap.
5. Put your “Keep” and “Hold” pieces back where you can easily see them.
If you can’t see it, chances are you won’t wear it.
6. Store off-season clothing separately.
Keep only the pieces you’ll actually wear this season within easy reach.
When was the last time you did a closet audit?
