Everyone calls it luck once it works. Before that it’s just a woman being delusional in her kitchen at 10pm 😤

I got laid off in March 2020, a month before I turned 35, when my job was officially “non-essential,” and everybody around me assumed I’d go find another one. I didn’t want another one. I wanted something nobody could take away from me with a single email.

What nobody tells you is how long the middle takes. I spent 16 months making $0, posting after both my girls were asleep and second-guessing every single post while my bank account side-eyed me. Humbling as hell. I was bad at it for a long time and then, slowly, less bad. That’s the whole secret, and it makes a terrible poster.

Now I have my own income, a house I bought for my family last December and a life I actually picked. I still have days where I have no idea what I’m doing. That part doesn’t go away. You just stop waiting for it to.

So when I say all you need is a little delusion, I mean it literally. Delusion is believing in something before there’s any proof, and there is never proof at the start. Waiting to feel ready is just how you spend another year watching someone else do it badly and get paid anyway.
