Flood damage doesn’t always mean it has to be thrown away.
Following the September 2 flooding across the GTA, many homeowners may be dealing with clothing, bedding, rugs and other household textiles that have been exposed to floodwater.
Before replacing everything, have affected items professionally assessed. Depending on the material, condition, type of contamination and how long the item remained wet, professional cleaning may be possible.

• Keep affected textiles separate from clean items
• Avoid storing damp items in closets or drawers
• Handle potentially contaminated materials carefully
• Don’t assume drying alone means an item is clean
• Bring important, valuable or sentimental textiles in for assessment as soon as practical
