UKRAINIAN COTYLION – A SMALL BEAUTY OF A GREAT HISTORY

💫 Ukrainian culture is an integral part of European cultural heritage. This was once again proven by well-known ethnographers, researchers and popularizers of national heritage Lesya Voronyuk and Volodymyr Shchybrya during the presentation of the scientific-research publication “Ukrainian Cotylon of the First Half of the 20th Century”.

📚 The book contains almost 150 samples of beaded cotylons, one of which is from the funds of the Chernivtsi Regional Museum. This once again confirms that museums today are not just repositories of cultural relics, but centers of responsible preservation, research and popularization of national cultural heritage.

🪡 It is especially pleasant that during the presentation everyone could see the cotillion recreated by the Bukovina craftswoman Natalia Mashtalir, the original of which is kept in the exposition of our museum. The skillfully executed reconstruction made it possible to feel the beauty and uniqueness of this element of Ukrainian traditional clothing even closer.

🎗 During the presentation, the authors presented the director of the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore, Tetyana Minaeva, with a copy of the book with personal signatures. This publication will become a valuable addition to the museum collection and an important source for further research.

✨️ We sincerely thank Lesya Voronyuk and Volodymyr Shchybra for their inspired work, popularization of seemingly long-forgotten elements of Ukrainian culture, as well as for their valuable gift to our museum. It is thanks to such publications that the Ukrainian cultural heritage is not only preserved, but also opened up to new generations.
