CHARLES LU is founded on luxury craftsmanship, innovation, and poetic expression. Canadian born, Charles Lu began exploring his craft and hunger for clothing design at a tender age. At 18, he began his studies in London, England at the prestigious design school, Istituto Marangoni. There, he begun to further master his tech-niques and understanding of const-ruction. With a high regard for the female form, the brand centers around emotion and the visual expression of poetry. Each piece is skillfully produced with the highest respect for artistry imbued with time honoured methods of construction.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AWARDS | THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Portraits with my sister, Suzzanne Hartley, captured at the 5th Annual Women Empowerment Awards by Nancy Kim.

Inspired by The Butterfly Effect, the portrait studio celebrated transformation, connection, and the power of women uplifting one another. With delicate butterflies, floral elements, and rich autumn tones, the space was a beautiful reflection of the evening’s message: even the smallest actions can create meaningful change.

WOMEN EMPOWERING WOMEN 💕 | Women Empowerment Awards

On Friday, September 25, I had the honour of attending the 5th Annual Women Empowerment Awards with my sister, Suzzanne Hartley, celebrating five years of women supporting, recognizing and creating opportunities for one another.

I first met Klaudia Zinaty (Klaudia•Entrepreneur•Motivational Speaker•PR Influencer) when she was a stylist and reached out to borrow some of my pieces for a shoot. Since then, I’ve watched her build something truly meaningful. Her energy and dedication to empowering women of all ages and from all walks of life is incredible.

It was an honour to sit in a room filled with women celebrating one another’s achievements. There was something very powerful about watching women lift each other up. That is what makes this event so special.

Congratulations to Klaudia on five wonderful years and on having her work recognized by the Government of Ontario, including the recognition presented to her by The Honourable Charmaine Williams. A very well-deserved acknowledgement of everything she has built.

As someone who has designed for women throughout my career, I’ve always tried to channel the strength of the women I design for into the pieces themselves. Being surrounded by so many women who embody that strength was incredibly inspiring.

I was especially happy to experience the evening alongside my sister, Suzzanne (wearing CHARLES LU). She is someone I’ve always looked up to, almost like a second mother. Being ten years apart, our relationship has always held a special place in my life.

Congratulations to all of the incredible women recognized this year, and congratulations, Klaudia, on five years of creating a space where women can celebrate and champion one another.

ONE YEAR LATER | CELEBRATING CANADA’S NEXT ACT

It feels a little surreal that just one year after being featured on the cover of FASHION Magazine’s THE ONES, I was back celebrating the next generation of Canadian talent at FASHION’s THE ONES: Canada’s Next Act on September 15.

Congratulations to this year’s cover stars: Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova (), Humberly González (Humberly Gonzalez) and Nathan Mitchell (Nathan Mitchell). It was so special to celebrate the talent, creativity and energy shaping what comes next for Canada.

Thank you to FASHION Magazine for having me, and to Deidre Marinelli (Deidre Marinelli) and George Antonopoulos (George Antonopoulos) for continuing to create such an incredible platform for Canadian talent.

I genuinely can’t believe it’s already been a year.
