It’s the end of an era.

After fourteen years, Horses Atelier is closing. Soon, our webshop will come down and our doors will close. We make this announcement with heavy hearts.

Our entire and final collection is now online. Quantities are very limited and not expected to last. If you’ve had your eye on something, now is the time.

We believe in the empowerment and rare skills of the incredible women who sew our clothes. For us, it has become near impossible to continue to make what we want to make in Canada as an independent business.

We were lucky. We were brave. We worked ourselves to the bone. We travelled. We dressed icons, collaborated with visual artists, designed costumes for music videos, film, TV, and theatre. We met editors and buyers in hallways, boardrooms, trade shows who touched our pieces, and cried. They understood how personal our brand mission was—they could feel it.

More important: you. Our customer. Our beautiful customers who folded us into your lives. We want to thank all of you who have come through our doors, chosen us over the years. It has been an honour and a privilege to dress you for your everyday uniform and most significant life events—on stage, in film, at weddings, on book tours, red carpets, birthdays, graduations.

We could not have done this without our brilliant team—Jason Logan who created our brand identity and whose visionary creative direction is at the foundation of Horses. Sarah Dey Burton for diamond-sharp strategy. Natalie, Jill, Kerri, Val, Emma, Isabel, Mark, Roma Natalie, Julia, Elissa, Magda, June, Tom—and polymath Gabrielle—lodestar of the shop who singlehandedly built our community one beautiful visit at a time.

We want to thank our families and friends for enduring love and making dinner.

It takes a certain amount of bravery to try new things, test new waters. We founded Horses in this renegade spirit, and it is in every single piece we made. We stand behind our clothing—soft armour made with heart. It will take you into the future with joy.
