DIY by Archival Toronto x Shoppe and Tailor Studios

Class 3 — Upcycling Denim

Deconstruct. Reconstruct. Create.

Inspired by Martin Margiela’s SS99 Reconstructed Artisanal Denim, Class 3 of our DIY series teaches you how to transform vintage denim into a 1-of-1 reworked garment.

We will provide vintage denim and guide you through creative ways to deconstruct it, teaching you how to sew different garments together to construct a brand new, one-of-a-kind piece that is uniquely yours.

This class is great for intermediate students looking to make their own creative garment. This course will cover strategic pattern mapping, heavy-duty cutting, and sewing techniques using recycled denim from old garments.

We are hosting The by Peter Do for a bespoke trunk show featuring their signature bags.

Explore the collection in person, where you can customize and order each style in your choice of premium materials, from classic suede to metallic and embossed exotic leathers. This is an opportunity to design a piece that is uniquely yours.

Every order is placed on-site, handmade to your specifications, and delivered as soon as it is completed.

Archival Toronto is proud to present the Toronto premiere of The Designer. Directed by Gonzalo Hergueta, this film is a haunting and visceral look at one of fashion’s most polarizing and brilliant provocateurs: Miguel Adrover.

Hailed by Anna Wintour and The New York Times in the early 2000s as the saviour of American fashion, Adrover famously upended the industry with a raw commitment to sustainability and unbound creativity, long before it was a buzzword. This documentary follows his meteoric rise, his sudden “erasure” from the fashion calendar, and his current life of creative isolation in Mallorca.
