Our Halle Reversible Skirt is back for fall, and this year I’ve given it a rather fabulous new look!

Vegan leather on one side. Vegan suede on the other.

I wore mine for Thanksgiving and loved how easy it was to dress up. But that’s the beauty of Halle. Wear it with a cosy sweater and boots for a casual afternoon, or add a beautiful blouse and heels for dinner.

The leather gives it a modern edge, while the suede offers a softer, more classic look. And when you want a change, simply turn it inside out!

Some recipes are about more than food. They’re about family, memories and places that stay with you. 🍂

This Thanksgiving, I’m trying something new — or rather, something very old that’s new to my kitchen!

It’s an *Almond Pie à Portugueza* from *The Gentleman’s Companion: The Exotic Cookery Book*, made with almonds, eggs, warm spices and a little Madeira w**e. The recipe calls for a dozen eggs. Clearly, it means business!

My copy is one of just 1,200 printed, given to my mother by the renowned Polish concert pianist Jan Smeterlin, who was married to my great-aunt Edith.

The recipe comes from Reid’s Palace in Madeira, where I spent the first three nights of my honeymoon 30 years ago. I love imagining the scene described in the book: a foggy morning in the mountains above Funchal, followed by the discovery of the chef preparing this very pie for a party, with the mountains and sea as the backdrop.

I’m sharing the original recipe for anyone who’d like to try it, too.

However you’re spending Thanksgiving, I hope there’s good food, good company and plenty of time to savour it all.
