Crewneck or polo? Here’s how we’d choose. ☀️

Both are UPF 50+ tested, made from the same soft rayon-from-bamboo, cotton and spandex blend, and finished with thumbhole cuffs for a little more hand coverage.

The difference is mostly how your child already likes to dress. If they live in easy everyday tees, we’d start with the crewneck. If they’re happiest in something a little more polished, we’d choose the polo.

Cloudy pumpkin patch day. Skip the sunscreen, right? 🎃

Clouds can reduce UV, but they don’t block it completely. And in an open field with very little shade, exposure can still add up over a couple of hours.

The kids wore their UPF 50+ Crewnecks, Lightweight Jackets and Grow With Me Pants, with sunscreen on exposed skin and boots for the mud.

Then the clouds cleared, the sun came out, and the jackets came off. Their UPF crewnecks and pants stayed on.

They came home with mud on their pants and hay in their hair. The clothes went straight in the wash. The kids went straight in the bath. 🤍

Does UPF wash out? Depends where the UPF comes from. ☀️

Some sun-protective fabrics use an added UV-absorbing treatment to help increase sun protection. Others achieve their UPF through the fabric itself, including factors like fibre, construction and colour.

Ours has nothing added. No UV-protective spray, coating or wash-in treatment. Our UPF 50+ comes from the fabric itself, and our pieces are third-party tested.

Like any textile, protection can change over time with stretching and wear, so follow the care label and retire pieces once the fabric becomes worn or damaged.

Long sleeves in the sun? It’s a fair question. ☀️

It was one of ours, too.

We’ve put the Ember & Ray Crewneck to the test on plenty of sunny days, including a trip to Hawaii, where our daughter stayed comfortable enough to keep playing.
