Every time I see someone complain about school curriculum that include sections on the LGBTQIA2S+ on social media I roll my eyes so hard that I can almost see my brain 🙄

Do these people not realize that the LGBTQIA2S+ are people just like them and deserve the same respect they do? Do they not want children to grow up embracing diversity? *sigh*

Some of you might've thought that I was naive in thinking my parents already knew about my partner and I when we tried to come out by telling them that we're buying a place together. HOWEVER, there's a reason for that.

It was when I came out to my sister about an year or two before "the incident" that I found out that she'd already known because a stalker of mine on social media outed me to her (a story for another time...), and that she supports and loves me no matter what. She also told me that she had discussed this with my mom and thinks that they already know about my partner and I.

So that's why I was surprised by the way my parents reacted.

Big shoutout to my sis for offering love and support along this journey though - it really meant a lot to me 🥰

My partner and I decided to buy an apartment together a few years ago so we thought it would be a good time/opportunity to tell my parents about us since we've been living together for about 7 years at that point.

Then the above happened... 🤦‍♂️

I had to tell my parents afterwards that it was my attempt to come out to them gently, but was met with "are you sure?" and "didn't you date that girl?". It took a while before they fully accepted the reality but we're good now. And they even always take my partner's side whenever we'd have arguments here and there 🙄

Honestly I thought they'd already known for a long time, but I guess the Asian mentality of pretending everything's fine was too strong. At least I can laugh about this experience now, I guess?

Anyone else has interesting coming out stories to share? We would love to read them!

Before meeting my current partner, I thought I'd just hide my sexuality from my conservative, evangelical Christian, family forever, and I couldn't even begin to imagine what would happen if I came out to them.

Well, now that the cat's out of the bag, I can't imagine never letting them in on an integral part of who I am. It was a tough journey to take with them but, thankfully, it's also a very rewarding one.

Although it's not very dramatic or entertaining, I'll be sharing part of that journey with y'all this week.
