Nettle's Tale began (and continues today) with a vision of creating honest, inclusive, everyday swimwear. Launched in 2014 via a wildly successful crowdfunding campaign, each swimsuit style was designed for, named after, and modeled by a different woman in owner Julia Church's life. We believe garments should work for your body, not the other way around. We believe in inclusivity, contributing to

our local economy, and that there is always room for improvement. In 2019, after seeing a lack of affordable and size-inclusive garments in the Canadian slow fashion market, we launched a small collection of apparel pieces that continues to grow today. Many of our swimwear & apparel sizes are currently available in sizes XS-4X, and we are constantly working towards expanding even further.

A quick talking head to talk tariffs! 

The proposed 50% tariffs on Canadian made goods is going to affect businesses differently, but for us it thankfully won’t change much! 

At this time, only two styles will be affected: the Strait Tee and the Cropped Big Tee. If you’re an American customer interested in either style, please place your order before August 10th so we have plenty of time to get it sent out for you. 

Otherwise, it’s business as usual! When you’re shopping online, you’re seeing a localised catalogue of items that will ship to you, no guess work needed.
