The traditional art of Sashiko proves our philosophy that clothing should get better with wear. Embracing the beauty of visible mending, the Japanese needlework technique is one of many forms of garment repair that we practice (and are now preaching).

We are so excited to be hosting our first workshop next week where attendees will learn the history of Sashiko and three traditional stitch techniques. The event is sold out but keep an eye out for more in the future.

Introducing: SOFT SKILLS—A Workshop Series hosted by Decade Studio.

We’re opening our space to friends and neighbours in the name of learning! and fibre-forward pursuits. Together we’ll learn textile techniques from sewing fundamentals, endeavours in knitting, garment repair, and more.

First up—INTRO TO SASHIKO: a traditional Japanese hand-stitching technique rooted in mending, durability, and the belief that good clothing gets better with wear and repair.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll explore the history of sashiko before learning the foundational stitches and patterns that have been passed down for generations.

No sewing experience is necessary—all skill levels are welcome.

We hosted our first art show last night — Molly made all the frames because she can’t help herself.

Seeing community come together is exactly why we wanted to open our space for our long time besties’ first art show. We’re so grateful to everyone who came by, spent time with the work, and made the night feel so amazing.
