Founded in 2012 to meet the need for properly fit, well made shoes, Westerly’s are built for endurance and designed for repair.

I’ve had the greatest fortune in life to live in a place where my mom could care for me in the way she wanted, and that I now have the peace of mind knowing that she is healthy & safe in her own home. These are life’s biggest blessings!

Today I send out happy Mother’s Day wishes to all the mom’s and women who nurture those around them. My biggest wish is that all the moms, daughters, sisters, aunties and all the people of Palestine be given the same security of life we enjoy here in this near perfect part of the world. It is a basic human right and one we should all be fighting for.

Love everyone as if they were your closest family and friend.

The northern lights in the skies over the southern gulf islands. My camera picked up more colour than my eyes could, but it was a breathtaking experience nonetheless. More magical even than the screen can represent. ✨

It’s been a while, Vancouver. I used to love taking myself out for a cappuccino and a tasty treat on a Sunday. Still do, it turns out. Just a lot less opportunity to do it since I relocated to a small island that mostly sleeps on Sundays.

My beloved studio has also been in a long slumber while I prepare for the next phase of my move. But today, at least, I get to go and play with shoes and spend time in my cozy shoemakers nook.

Always dreaming and scheming for what comes next. I’ll let you know how that looks, once I figure it out. And yes, the future holds shoes on my workbench. And some patience in getting there.

Such an honour and a joy to have been able to attend the awards ceremony last night. Congratulations to the recipients of the Carter Wosk award of Applied Arts + Design: .perrone and Robert Anderson, luthier.

Congratulations also to the winners of the Fulmer awards in First Nations Art.

A pleasure to see all of your work! Wonderful to be amongst the creative spirit that is alive and well in this body of land and water we call BC.

Helloooo! It’s been a long while since I’ve taken one of these shots. And since I’ve made an appearance on the socials. I’m enjoying a little hiatus from a lot of my regular things, taking the summer away from the studio to learn some new skills. Rest assured the hands are still working. New blisters, new callouses, new abilities. My current lesson in life is that I’m happiest when I’m learning new things, so here’s to always learning and always finding new paths to joy! I’ll make my way back to studio life one of these days. In the meantime, in honour of labour day, a thank you to these two hardworking friends at the end of my arms that toil endlessly for me and for the sake of creative pursuits.

2021 left nuggets behind that I’ll be processing for years to come. Long held dreams being at my finger tips, some coming into fruition and others falling quickly away. A year of opening, receiving, and letting go.

In 2022 there are more seeds to plant. More building, more dreaming, more learning to be done. I hope you have goals to build the future you want too.

I’m so very grateful for the friendships, family, and communities that I get to be part of and for all the love shared! Thank you for being YOU!!
