Picture it, a young 20-something Rebecca. Just dropped out of university her 4th year. Came back from a 2 month long car camping trip across Canada, *sidebar* which included her FIRST music festival. OSHEAGA = CORE MEMORY (2011 vibes, Death Cab for Cutie, Tragically Hip, City & Colour, Beirut ✨)
Anyways back to Victoria. No career direction.
Unexpectedly got a job working as a receptionist for an optometrist. I had no idea where it would lead.
Fast forward through optician school and licensing, working for a frame designer in England, travelling around Europe, designing a boutique during maternity leave, and opening a 110 square foot optical shop at the end of a global pandemic....
PLOT TWIST 🤯
Opening your own business apparently makes you a business owner. Wild, eh?
I've always thought of myself as an optician first, but somehow along the way I became an entrepreneur too. 🤣
The Lexus Experience Award in 2025 and the Chamber of Commerce Emerging Business Person of the Year 2026 gave me a little nudge to actually own that title. Entrepreneur...again, wild!
And apparently, you lovely people thinking Eyefinery is pretty great too 🧡 Votes 2nd best in the Victoria 2025 and 2026.
To everyone who has supported me, trusted me with all your spectacle needs over the years, followed me from Salt Spring to Fernwood, or cheered me on: thank you. Truly. 🧡
Here's to 15 years, a few plot twists, and whatever the heck comes next.
