BREAKING NEWS: Refined Design Unveiled for Proposed Marriott Hotel on Wasaga Beach Waterfront

The refined design for a proposed Marriott hotel on Beach Drive has been unveiled, marking an important step in the Town’s planning review process and the continued evolution of Ontario's summer playground.

The proposal represents one of the most significant private-sector investments in Wasaga Beach’s history.

The premium Marriott-branded hotel is the first phase of a broader multi-phase development led by Sunray Group of Hotels that will include:

➡️ A full-service Marriott hotel with premium accommodations
➡️ A year-round restaurant and indoor-outdoor gathering spaces
➡️ Event, meeting, and wedding facilities
➡️ Wellness amenities, including fitness and pool facilities
➡️ A full-service spa offering relaxation and wellness experiences
➡️ Ground-floor commercial uses, including shops, cafés, and restaurants

As part of the project, Sunray Group would also deliver a new public Festival Square adjacent to the hotel — a flexible outdoor gathering space designed to host events, performances, and community programming, bringing energy and year-round activity to the heart of the waterfront.

The project could create more than 100 local jobs and is intended to support increased tourism, including longer stays and higher-value visitation—benefiting businesses across the community.

The Town of Wasaga Beach’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza returns Sunday, April 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wasaga Beach RecPlex, and this year’s celebration comes with a magical twist straight out of W***y Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Hidden among thousands of colourful Easter eggs will be 20 coveted Golden Tickets — and lucky hunters who discover one will win a large chocolate bunny prize, handcrafted by The Candy Factory - Georgian Bay Chocolates

“Events like this bring our community together,” said Mayor Brian Smith. “This free, family-friendly event gives residents and visitors a chance to celebrate spring, support local vendors and experience the excitement of finding a Golden Ticket. It’s a fun way to create magical memories for children and families.”

The Easter Egg Hunt begins at 11 a.m., with separate areas for Little Bunnies (ages 0–6) and Big Bunnies (ages 7+). Participants are encouraged to bring their own baskets and keep their eyes peeled — because a Golden Ticket could be hidden in any egg.
