Kitchener-Waterloo 📣 We are looking for denim 👀 and bet you have some hiding in your closet.

👖We are seeking denim that is in need of upcycling! Not perfect? No problem! We’re going to be cutting and sewing new life into them, so bring your tattered, old, or ugly denim, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Where to drop off your donated denim:
✨Basadi Sewing’s booth at during market hours
✨ Basadi Sewing Headquarters in Waterloo, 12-3pm Monday through Thursday

Why donate?
✨Upcycling is a great way to reduce waste and prolong the life cycle of apparel. And by donating to Basadi Sewing, you’re also supporting a social enterprise dedicated to employing newcomer women through the art of sewing.

When to donate?
✨Now through July, but the earlier the better, as we are actively working on upcycling projects!

At Basadi Sewing, we provide meaningful employment for newcomer moms through the art of sewing.

🪡 We teach sewing skills to individuals of all levels, emphasizing slow fashion principles like quality craftsmanship, upcycling, and mending.
✂️ We offer businesses high-quality tailoring, alterations, and custom gifts that prioritize sustainability by reducing textile waste.
🧵 We facilitate sewing workshops for groups of all sizes! We can provide a social and educational activity for your team.
🥕 We offer onsite alterations, upcycling, and mending at the St. Jacobs Farmers Market on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays

✨ Shop our selection of hand-sewn gifts or bring your items you need altered, mended, or upcycled. ✨

Our team will work on your items while you shop the market, and you can pick up your finished pieces before you leave!

We are Basadi Sewing! A newcomer-run social enterprise powered by Adventure4Change in Waterloo.

To the public, we also offer beginning and intermediate sewing classes in Waterloo.

We also sell a wide range of hand-sewn products, from everyday essentials like aprons, oven mitts, bedding, and purses to bookmarks and ornate, one-of-a-kind custom outfits. We specialize in upcycling and reusing donated materials, transforming them into high-quality, functional pieces with purpose.

You also offer alterations or mending services to the public through appointment.

For organizations, we provide professional sewing services including: uniform mending, alterations, tailoring, and wholesale and custom production.

Our mission is to create meaningful employment for newcomer women while reducing social isolation through skill-building and community.
