little Luckies One of a kind, Handmade, Heirloom Cloth Dolls
Loving crafted by Sue Luckies in Ontario, Canada Here you will find one of a kind lovables for all ages to enjoy.

Plushies play a very important role in childhood imaginative play. Children engage with their plushies trusting them with secrets, having tea parties, going for wagon rides, and cuddling with them at night. This is how I imagine the life of all the toys I make. I believe that there is something very special about handmade toys that cannot compare to mass produced ones. I truly enjoy spending my ti

me creating, and put my heart, soul and lots of love into each item I make. I don't think there is anything more special than making something for someone. The amount of time and effort that goes into something handmade is immeasurable. Though each of my creations are unique in their own way, they all do have one thing in common - they were made with love. My hope is that whoever receives one of my creations will find their forever friend :)

Confessions from a handmade small business owner Part 3 - the Finale.

I put my entire shop in sales mode before Black Friday for the first time ever, in the hopes that most toys would clear out so I could get back to making more. But sadly, only one person made a purchase despite hundreds of visitors to my shop.

It’s simple…I can’t be creative, can’t sew, can’t make dolls and toys if I have too much inventory… too much inventory means no one is buying and it means stacks of boxes filled with unwanted toys taking up space in my small studio.

I thought my price point was what was deterring people from making a purchase, but perhaps I’m wrong. Hello self doubt.

Yep I’m going there… it’s only natural for self-doubt to creep in and to question your ability, your creative worth when no one is responding. Am I good enough? Is my product something that people want? Do they want it enough to spend the money? I know very well that our economic climate has a lot to do with low sales but I have items in my shop that I feel are very reasonably priced.

So after a year of trying all the things I’ve decided to surrender to social media and fighting to be noticed, wave the white flag to this economic free fall and step back for the time being, from a business that is currently no longer sustainable.

It sucks but I can no longer keep wasting my time and energy on something that is so very obviously not working. I hope that the previous 2 posts and this will give you a clear picture of what went through my mind in making this decision.

The shop will remain open with what I have left but I may shut it down - I haven’t decided. Cuddle cuddles can currently be found at and I’ll be sending some small dolls to

Maybe I’ll be back in a few months maybe in a couple years or maybe not at all. Maybe I’ll just pop in here and there to let you know what I’m up to. I don’t know what the future holds and I’m ok with that.

What I do know is that this isn’t working for me right now and I need to focus my energy elsewhere.

Sue💚💜

Confessions from a handmade small business owner Part 2

Social media…ugh you’ve heard me gripe about it before but I’m sooooo done with it.

Social media demands fresh new content ALL THE TIME. I gave it my best shot…. My reach hasn’t grown since way before Covid and the majority of my 4000+ followers are inauthentic.

I used to fill my stories with daily ongoings about me and the kids then they became teenagers and withdrew consent. So what do I have left…. pictures of dark lit parking lots, swim pools and what I cook for dinner.

I watched my stories very carefully over the last couple of years and your interest only rose when the kids appeared by like 300%! When I posted behind the scenes of what I was up to in the studio interest took a very dramatic dive to under 80 viewers. I get it… you’ve seen me sew and paint faces countless of times - I’d be bored too.

My feed didn’t change a whole lot …. Pictures of dolls and toys that all looked very similar - I’d hashtag the heck out of each post and in the background I’d be waving and yelling trying to catch peoples attention.

Reels… come on, there aren’t enough hours in my day to do a proper reel, to scroll through IG looking for ideas and music and then to actually execute it. Dancing stupidly to music that I dislike with my kids telling me I’m cringey. I don’t want to spend what little time I have during the day to be doing that.

Confessions from a handmade small business owner Part 1.

I’ve been thinking about a lot these last few months both personally and business-wise.

Getting up at 4:30am for swim practice, keeping things together at home while working part time, slowly letting go of my independent kiddos while also being there for them when the need arises, all while trying to find a nugget of time to do sew toys is almost impossible and starting to take its toll. If you mamas think that just because they’re older that they don’t need you as much - you’re wrong, they do!

This chapter of my life feels a lot like it did when the kids were very young, when everything was about them. That time in my life demanded all my focus, all my breath for them.

Fast forward 10-12 years and I’m in a new chapter all about teenage hormones, high school, swim board duties, looking ahead to university, mastering the art of chauffeuring, learning to let go and making plans for my future empty nest.

They’ll only be with me for a few more years and those years will go by in a blink and I don’t want to miss any of it.
