Hum of the Hive

Honeybees produce their buzzing sound by the rapid movement of their flight muscles and wings. In reality, a bee doesn’t hum at one fixed note, but a collective of notes and frequencies. Wing movement, temperature, colony activity, and the bee’s behavior all affect the humming frequency. It varies greatly and a colony’s sound can change quickly when bees are warming the hive, preparing to swarm, or responding to disturbance.

The commonly heard hive “hum” is most comparable to key of C between 200-250 Hz which has healing affects on the mind and body.

At Golden Sorella Co., Hum of the Hive is an immersive listening experience featuring a live audio recording of our very own bees!

SG’s 1st Observation Hive!

We were so excited to offer this as an attraction at the Grand Opening of Golden Sorella Co. We loved being able to educate our customers on bee behaviour and introduce the community to various forms of Apitherapy.

Observing bees is considered an emerging extension of apitherapy, though it is more specifically categorized as therapeutic apiculture, apiary therapy, or “bee-watching.”

Traditionally, apitherapy refers to the medicinal use of products collected or secreted by honeybees, such as honey, bee venom, propolis, royal jelly, bee pollen, and beeswax. However, major modern apitherapy bodies—including the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations (APIMONDIA)—now officially expand this definition to include “all other effects resulting from proximity to a bee colony,” such as their sound, vibration, and visual presence.

All it needed was a fresh coat of white paint, silver hardware spray painted gold, and our top cover logo stencil on top to complete the Sorella Gold signature look.

We enjoyed this beautiful Sunday as vendors at the Tecumseh Farmer’s Market! We debuted our new tea products/branding, and introduced Adopt A Bee.

Catching up with business owners, and meeting new ones make markets so fun and it was so nice to meet all of you! ✨

A huge thank you to our family for coming to the rescue and saving the day! Between trucks, tablecloths, fans, fly swatters…every market comes with its challenges. At the end of the day, both honey and laughter is surely the best medicine!

Our favourite part - conquering the yellow jackets! It was the perf day to educate the public on the difference between the two.
(No bee was harmed during the use of a fly swatter, we promise!)
