Some rooms change you. For years my little shop has been where women came to find the version of themselves they actually wanted to wear, and where I got to watch it happen.

Friday October 30 at 7pm, we are having a Farewell Party at the shop. And to say it plainly: we are not closing. We are celebrating.

If you have ever worn a piece from this rack, cried laughing in the fitting room, or just loved what this place became, this evening is for you. Heck maybe you haven’t been here yet!

Painted in the open, where you can stand close enough to smell it.

This is how a shirt becomes a story. One figure at a time, pressed in red onto black and white, on the steps of the shop, while the neighbourhood gathers and the cameras roll.

I do not hide in a studio and unveil it later. The making is the show.

You told me you love the Grace cut, the swing, the drape, the way it moves when you walk into a room, but the patchwork is not you.

Fair. She comes in solids now.

Ochre for the gallery afternoon. Icy Blue for the woman who walks into winter like she owns it. Red, because some days call for it. Moss, Grey, Eggplant: same coat, six different women, all of them you on different days.

One of each, made here at 67 Sherbrook. When a colour is gone, it is gone.

She’s back.

If you know Catherine, you know. The pant that goes to the gallery opening, the long dinner, the flight you actually want to look good getting off of and then does it all again on Tuesday.

Claire, Shirley and I just finished a new run, right here at 67 Sherbrook. Ponte that moves with you, a leg that swings when you walk, and the rare pair of pants you’ll reach for more than your jeans.

When they’re gone, they’re gone until the next run and I never know when that is.

I’m taking the studio on the road this fall. Four (possibly 5) cities, racks of one-of-one wearable art, and pieces you’ll never see twice. Come try everything on, and bring the friend who needs a day out.

A lot of the new pieces I make have this red line. Here’s why.

The Blood Line is a signature red ribbon running through my work. It’s a symbol that it doesn’t matter what colour skin you have or where you’re from, you bleed the same blood as everyone else. We are one race, the human race.

It’s more than a detail. It’s a mark of transformation. A reminder that what you wear can carry history, say who you are, and make you feel more alive.

Hard to believe it’s been 20 years of painting and making clothing. I am so grateful for your support and the questions you ask me.
