Meet Pam Robertson Rivet, our featured designer for the September box.

Pam is a multi-passionate quilt designer, writer, and teacher. She loves to incorporate rich colourful fabric with variegated thread, buttons, and lace that help old things tell new stories. Her focus on legacy has led to her sharing engaging performances and classes in museums, community centres, and one time at a cymbal factory in New Brunswick.
After more than 30 moves across Canada, and a couple across the Atlantic, she currently sews in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

I can't wait to send you this quarter's box with the project Pam designed for it.

How to attach a zipper pull to zipper tape.

The June box included a piece of zipper tape and a zipper pull. I was originally going to leave them separate, but was worried about losing the zipper pull in the packaging so I attached it for everyone.

I still wanted to make this video, though, with the method I used to attach the pull, in case it helps anyone for future zippers, or if the pull accidentally comes off, etc.

There are many different ways to do this, from just holding it (the method Andrea Tsang Jackson showed me) to using a fork, to holding it upside down from what I’m doing here, so use the one that works best for you.

🎉 1 year! 🎉
I just dropped off the last of the June boxes, which officially means we‘ve been quilting across Canada for a whole year!
What an adventure this has been so far! What started with a „hey, I could do that“ after a social media post planted the seed in my brain last spring has grown to almost 300 subscribers! 🎉

A huge thank-you to everyone who has supported Quilt The North along the way 💕 whether you are a subscriber, a designer, or were on the receiving end of my questions when I was trying to figure out how to make this work, thank you! We wouldn’t be here without you.

It wasn’t an easy year, with lots to learn (like, how does fabric ordering actually work?), impromptu postal strikes and tariff regulation changes, and quite a bit of whack-a-mole along the way. Some other things in my business took a bit of a back seat as I was finding my feet and getting systems in place to streamline the process, but I can’t wait to dive into year 2 with the September box and visit lots more great Canadian places and meet the designers calling them home 🩷

A year ago this was all just ideas in a notebook, chats with quilty friends, and the realization that maybe I could actually pull this off.
And now I'm just about to send out the fourth Quilt The North box, marking a full year of Canadian quilting adventures! 🎉

Canada is such a vast and beautiful country, and home to many fabulous quilt designers you may not have heard of yet. So each quarterly box features a different Canadian quilt pattern designer, and the city or region they're from.
In addition to the main quilt project and fabric you'll get:
- A bonus quilt block inspired by the area
- A taste of local culture or landmarks
- Goodies from small makers and local artists
- And a story about the region's unique charm

You might not be able to travel across Canada every season, but now you can stitch your way from coast to coast, one box at a time.
Doggie delivery is only included in my immediate neighbourhood, though 😉
