Here’s another look at my two versions of the Square Basket Cowl. Both are knit in malabrigo Rios. The first photo is Denim and the second photo is Pearl.

I love how the simple basketweave texture gives this cowl plenty of interest while still making it easy to wear.

Which colour would you choose — Denim or Pearl?

A little texture, two beautiful colours.

The Square Basket Cowl is one of those knits that lets the yarn and stitch pattern do the talking. These two are knit in malabrigo Rios, one in Denim and the other in Pearl. Choose any beautiful skein of worsted weight yarn to create your own cozy and wearable cowl for cool autumn days.

Sometimes it’s the little details that make a shawl special.

Travel a Crooked Path combines lines of pretty eyelets, an asymmetrical shape, and a picot edge. The eyelets travel across the fabric creating texture and movement while the picot edge adds just the right finishing touch.

Some knits just belong to October.

Travel a Crooked Path is one of those shawls I find myself coming back to every fall. The warm rusty orange, the little trails of eyelets, and that slightly asymmetrical shape all seem made for this time of year.

I designed this shawl quite a few years ago, but I still love the way it wraps around the neck. And when you open it up, you can really see those wandering eyelet paths that gave the pattern its name.

This old favourite is ready for another autumn.

The Travel a Crooked Path knitting pattern is available through the link in my bio. Yarn used here is malabrigo Mechita in Dried Orange.

This was my first Halcyon Shawl. It was knit in shades of teal, green, and pale blue from Miss Babs Hand-Dyed Yarns & Fibers. I love how differently the pattern comes to life depending on the colours. The Halcyon Shawl is worked in garter stitch with simple stripes, creating a generously sized shawl that’s easy to wrap and wear.

Which version are you drawn to: colourful or neutral?

The Halcyon Shawl pattern is available through the link in my bio.

Another fall shawl from the archives… this is the Halcyon Shawl.

This is the second Halcyon Shawl I knitted, in a completely different palette from the original.
I love how the simple stripes become part of the shape of this shawl. Opened up, you can really see the geometry. But wrapped around the neck, all those lines fold into each other and it becomes wonderfully cozy and dramatic.

This version uses soft neutrals from Hedgehog Fibres. Halcyon is one of those older patterns I’ve been enjoying rediscovering lately. Sometimes it takes pulling a shawl out of the closet and actually wearing it again to remember what I liked about it in the first place.

Same pattern. Completely different personality.

This is the original From Summer to Fall Shawl in a mix of magenta, soft grey and variegated yarns.

I love how differently the colour and texture sections play out in this one compared with the green and taupe version I shared last week. And underneath all those stripes, textures and bits of lace is that same kite-shaped construction. It’s one of the things I love most about revisiting an older pattern: remembering just how much the yarn choices can change it.

Pattern is From Summer To Fall and is available through the link in my bio. Yarn used here is malabrigo Mechita.

You may recognize this shawl… it’s been hiding in plain sight in my profile photo.

This is the second From Summer To Fall Shawl that I’ve knitted. I went back to the pattern a couple of years ago after knitting the original and made it again in this completely different palette.

I love a big oversized kite shaped shawl in the fall. Wrapped around the neck, it’s generous and drapey. But when you open it up you can really see how all those sections of colour, texture, and lace come together.

And with September here now, how could I not feature this one again?

Here is my pink Dazzling Daffodils Shawl, properly photographed at last!

I’ve been learning my way around a new camera this weekend, and this shawl has been my very patient model.

Yarn is SweetGeorgia Yarns CashLuxe Fine in Peony. Pattern is available at the link in my profile.

Remember this one? Back in March, I started knitting a pink version of my Dazzling Daffodils Shawl for my annual April Daffodils fundraiser. April ended before the shawl did. Five months later… it’s finally finished!

I knit this version in SweetGeorgia CashLuxe Fine in Peony, and I love how the pink gives this old favourite such a completely different look. Swipe to see it alongside my original yellow Dazzling Daffodils Shawl.

Dazzling Daffodils is a one-skein fingering-weight end-to-end shawl pattern, available through the link in my bio.
