We don’t settle for the bare minimum 🙅🏽‍♀️

We’ve gotten so used to seeing the same fabrics in underwear that we’ve started to think they’re the only options.

Cotton. Polyester. Nylon. Spandex. Bamboo.

There’s a whole world of incredible textiles out there. Fabrics made from plants, seaweed, wood pulp, and other natural or thoughtfully made materials. Fabrics that can feel incredibly soft, breathable, lightweight, and genuinely beautiful to wear.

The funny thing is, these fabrics aren’t necessarily new or impossible. They’re just harder to make, harder to source, and more expensive.

So the industry keeps reaching for what’s easy and readily available.

And we’ve gotten so used to it that we’ve stopped expecting anything more. The reason specialty fabrics like ours aren’t readily available is that it’s expensive, and takes time.

You can’t just order this fabric off the shelf. It takes months of development to carefully create the blend, combining organic cotton with seaweed-infused eucalyptus lyocell and a cleaner stretch, instead of the conventional elastanes used in most underwear.

It’s far easier and cheaper to use fabrics that are already readily available, which is why you see so much conventional cotton and synthetic fabric in underwear out there in the world.

For most brands, that extra time and cost simply doesn’t make sense for the bottom line.

But we think what sits against your most intimate skin is worth the extra effort, time and money to create something that is good for us.

What dyes are actually being used in the clothes we buy?

If something is too soft and silky, how are they softening it?

Is the garment I’m wearing impacting my hormones? My intimate health?

If a colour on a garment is too bright, are there AZO dyes being used?

So many questions have started to come up for me since starting this journey.

The more I know, the harder it is to go back to shopping the way I used to.

With every question that comes up for me, I’m able to dig deeper for Kiseau when we develop our own products, and I take that as a blessing.
