“Opening the hips” is NOY pushing deeper into a stretch.

The hips need movement in different directions, but they also need strength and control.

Try these six:

1. 90/90 hip switches, for internal and external rotation
2. Low lunge, for the hip flexors
3. Adductor rock-backs, for the groin and inner thighs
4. Cossack squats, for lateral mobility and control
5. Pigeon pose, for the glutes and external rotation
6. Clamshells,to strengthen and stabilise the hips

Move slowly breathe and never force the joint.

Remember the goal is not simply more range; it is more range you can actually control.

Save this for your next mobility session and let me know what you think.

Most people think Reformer Pilates is about core strength.

For me, it’s about closed-chain strength: building the stability and control that helps train a more neutral pelvis and supports the lumbar spine to move with better control.

Most people don’t lack discipline, they’ve outsourced control.

Your energy, your stress, your body… handed over in pieces until you don’t know how to run your own system.

If you can’t regulate yourself, you don’t own yourself.

, or , is a foundational standing yoga asana designed to address the postural imbalances that come with modern, sedentary life.
It works like a reset, but not a passive one. You’re bringing the body back into a more natural alignment, stacking joints, finding a neutral spine, and gently reactivating the muscles that tend to switch off during the day. It’s simple, but it asks for attention. And over time, that awareness carries into how you stand, move, and hold yourself without even thinking about it.
