Choosing the right filter media can have a significant impact on baghouse performance, maintenance costs, and filter bag service life.
When it comes to cement plants, 𝗣𝗣𝗦 and 𝗣𝗧𝗙𝗘 are two commonly used materials—but they are designed for different operating conditions.
🟢 𝗣𝗣𝗦 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮
PPS is an excellent choice for applications with:
✔ High temperatures (up to around 190°C continuous operation)
✔ Acidic gases such as SO₂ and SO₃
✔ Coal-fired kilns and other sulfur-rich environments
It offers good chemical resistance while maintaining a competitive cost.
🔵 𝗣𝗧𝗙𝗘 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮
PTFE is designed for more demanding environments where maximum performance is required.
It provides:
✔ Outstanding chemical resistance
✔ Excellent high-temperature stability
✔ Superior moisture resistance
✔ Longer service life in harsh operating conditions
✔ Excellent filtration efficiency, especially with PTFE membrane technology
𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲?
There is no universal answer.
If your process involves 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗳𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, PPS may be the most cost-effective solution.
If your baghouse operates under 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗺𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, PTFE is often the better long-term investment.
The best filter media isn't necessarily the most expensive one—it's the one that best matches your operating conditions.
