When a customer asks for 20cm sensing distance – here's what we learned 📏✨

A customer recently asked our IR dual-function sensor switch to reach 20cm sensing distance.

So I did what any salesperson should do – I grabbed a camera and ran a quick test.

Here's what the video shows (reference only – not lab certified):

Mode Sensing Distance
Door trigger ~6.5cm (our standard: 5–10cm)
Hand wave ~6–7.5cm (standard: 5–10cm)
But the customer wanted 20cm. So I asked our engineer: Can we do it?

His answer:

✅ Yes, we can push it to 20cm.
❌ But the performance becomes unstable – false triggering, inconsistent response.
✅ The safe & reliable range we recommend is 10–12cm – stable, tested, and proven.

What does this mean for you?
If you need a longer sensing distance, we're honest with you:

10–12cm → stable, recommended, mass-production ready

20cm → possible but not recommended (performance trade-off)

We don't chase big numbers. We chase reliability.

Why does this matter?
A switch that triggers randomly is worse than no switch at all.
