Want to know why sometimes DTF prints don’t come out right – and how it’s connected to the grain size of the powder?
Many DTF printers run into uneven results or prints that don’t look sharp enough. In general, there are three main grain sizes of powder, and this is one of the key factors that affects print quality:
🔹 Large grain powder (120–200μm) – melts less evenly, can sometimes leave a “sandy” feel on the fabric, better suited for thicker textiles.
🔹 Medium grain powder (80–120μm) – the most common solution, provides a good balance of adhesion, softness, and feel, suitable for most types of printing.
🔹 Fine grain powder (30–80μm) – melts very quickly, gives a smooth and soft finish, ideal for printing on thin or delicate fabrics.
At the end of the day, choosing the right powder can be the difference between a print that lasts beautifully and one that starts peeling after just a few washes.
