is initiative to sensibilize people and the enterprises on how much a small effort by each of us can really change the world and the way we consciously act on our everyday life.
Our proposal comes after viewing A Plastic Ocean by Craig Leeson (suggested to us by our close friends of www.Plasticomanos.com) an incredible documentary on plastic as one the main problem our planet is facing and by our need to do something, even small to increase awareness on this big world problem.
The focus of this challenge is to take a responsibility toward the world we live in and that we are slowly destroying by acting!
What is the challenge about: trying for 3 days to avoid as much as possible the use of plastic or non-disposable plastic and by documenting with a simple post on what is it that is limiting most the complete non-usage of disposable plastic in those challenge days.
Nowadays is very hard or impossible to end a full day without using plastics, is everywhere, for this reason, by engaging in this challenge we can all share what is limiting this, which products or product category is giving us a hard time to complete this challenge.
The idea is to create a discussion forum where with the contribution of all the participants, we can then push the enterprises to think twice in what they are doing in name of profit and let them take a serious responsibility as producers showing them that consumers now are more aware of the damage they are creating in the name of profit. They also MUST take action!
Enterprises, when critical masses are reached will then be forced to rethink what they should really do in terms of packaging and products to avoid to lose sales and market shares and will give useful indications to new companies on what customers are now demanding.
In our world, depending from which region you are from, per capita consumption of plastic ranges on avrage from 150 g to almost 300 grams, mostly coming from packaging.
Lets run some numbers, if we could do a small effort 3 days per month, with a limited number of participants….
Lets consider 200 grams (of plastic saved) x Day
200 gr x 3 days x 12 months x 10.000.000 people = 72 Millions Kg of Plastic we would save from contaminating our world
With 100 Mil of people = 720 millions kg of plastic …and so on… but most important, we raise awareness promote solution and influence our friends!
By posting comments on what we CANT do, pictures, possible alternatives and anything that can help this cause, we belive more and more people will be sensibilizieded and enterprise sooner or later will need to take remedies because there will come enterprises aware to this issue that will then start proposing alternatives…
