I’ve always been drawn to textiles made by hand. They carry the time, patience and care of the people who created them, and I believe they deserve to be seen and not hidden away.

For these two bags, I paired beautiful traditional embroidery from with colourful African wax prints from my fabric collection. Although they come from different places and traditions, I enjoy seeing how beautifully they work together to create something new.

I never really know how the finished bag will look until everything comes together. That’s one of my favourite parts of creating.

I started with a simple idea:
turn egg cartons, cereal boxes and fabric scraps into something playful.

These little characters came together differently…. cutting, layering, painting, adjusting as I went along
