The Weekly Weaving Sessions are back this September!

Starting on 15th of September, each participant works on their own 4-shaft table loom, creating textiles and projects at their own pace while exploring new weaving techniques in a relaxed and creative environment.

The sessions take place at Weaving House Katerina Efstratiou every Tuesday and Thursday, 17:30–19:30.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have weaving experience, simply choose the day that suits you best and join the class. Together, we’ll explore how cloth is woven, how the loom works and the creative possibilities of handweaving.

Karpethkia motif once again, I think I’m officially obsessed with this pattern.

Artworks 1–3 show the classic motif that I’ve revisited yet again, while artworks 4–6 continue its evolution. The central diamond is split into two halves, making room for an hourglass shape in the middle.

I’ve been experimenting with different colour combinations while keeping the motif itself unchanged. It’s fascinating how colour can completely alter our perception and emotional response to a design even when the pattern remains exactly the same.

This bespoke commission was created for a bedroom, with only one direction from the client, to create the perfect piece for an empty space that had been waiting for the right artwork.

At its centre sits Xtenoudi, framed by a continuous Oktapodaki motif that flows around the composition. The client wanted a soft, understated colour palette and had specific dimensions in mind, allowing the piece to sit naturally within the space without overwhelming it.

Resulting a rectangular piece of art measuring 48 × 24.5 cm, Xtenoudi is handwoven using raw and mercerised cotton yarn. A piece that embraces simplicity through texture, form and carefully considered detail. 🙏🏼🧡
