What else is there to say about this year’s Unbound? It was brutal. It was epic. It was insane. It was why we love gravel racing. To see athletes push themselves to the limit, and then push a little more, is always awe-inspiring. Sometimes we wish they would be a little easier on themselves. But then again, we know these are the types of days that take on a second life in cycling lore.

Factor Tech Manager, Cole Weldon, acted as a member of the support crew for Factor Racing at Unbound 200. Though perhaps he and his fellow crew members didn’t suffer quite as much on that gruelling day as the athletes racing, his story goes deep into what makes this sport so exceptional. Even for veterans of the event, the moments before the start of Paris-Roubaix are a mix of anticipation and trepidation.
