This girl was about 18.
She had no idea what life had in store for her.
My name is Melody Weaver, and no, I’m not perfect.
I’ve made mistakes. I’ve trusted the wrong people. I’ve hurt people and I’ve been hurt. I’ve failed, started again and learned more than a few things the hard way.
There was a time when I felt safer sleeping outside on a bench than I did sleeping at home.
I don’t say that for sympathy. It’s simply part of my story.
And somehow, looking at this picture now, I wouldn’t erase any of it.
Not because everything that happened was okay. Some things weren’t. But all of it shaped me.
Today people may see the things I’m building, the dreams I’m chasing, maybe even someone who seems to have it all figured out.
Trust me, I don’t. 😂
I’m still learning. Still getting things wrong. Still changing my mind. Still becoming.
I know I’m not for everybody, and I’m finally okay with that.
What I care about is being a little better than I was yesterday.
And I’m incredibly grateful for the people who are part of that journey — the ones who trust me, give me opportunities, share what they know, correct me when I need it, open doors or simply make the road a little easier.
I notice it. And I don’t take it for granted.
Looking at this girl now, there are a thousand things I could tell her.
But I think I’d just say:
Keep going.
We have so much life ahead of us. 🤍
