Sixteen years. One shape. It still stops people mid-sentence.
Two months. A few wrong turns before the shape finally held still. Then, in 2010, it moved from paper onto the last for the very first time.
Glossy black salmon leather. Nubuck from a high-alpine goat, so dense you feel it in your fingertips before your eyes catch up.
The hardest part was never the leather. It was the sling. Getting it to feel less like a strap holding a foot, and more like it had always belonged there.
The intention, from the start, was restraint. Not a heel for every day. One for the handful of nights that matter, worn rarely enough to still feel new each time.
It opened a show for Guido Maria Kretschmer. It crossed the stage at Cinema for Peace. Cameras have found it more than once since.
Sixteen years later, people still stop for it. That still means something to me, every time it happens.
Not new. Timeless. That was always the only point.
There is a letter for every pair like this one. It starts quietly, at heeltheworld.ch, before the shoe ever does.
