" Blue is the colour of trust and responsibility.
Slowly but surely the fashion industry is catching on to corporate social responsibility and sustainability. Our responsibility is to make our environment more sustainable. Design is all about problem solving, reconciling what we want to do as a designer with what is realistically possible. Creativity seems to be the extra layer of problem solving in sustainable design.
Blue smile is a collection of upcycled T-shirts using indigo dye and a Japanese batik technique name Shibori. Indigo is a 100% natural blue dye. Basic material are cotton T -shirts with minimal quality faults rejected by industry. The Blue smile print designs show charming messages promoting sustainability.
Time has come to start the battle of sustainability for our Blue Planet. "

During the design and development of this collection seven main strategies of sustainable design were considered: Zero Waste / Upcycling / Reduction of chemical impact / Reduction of energy & water use / Learning from nature and history / Ethical production / Design Activism.
