SU***DE_ Ghost Rider (1980)

Su***de was a groundbreaking American duo formed in New York City in the early 1970s by Alan Vega and Martin Rev. Stripping rock music down to little more than primitive drum-machine rhythms, distorted synthesizers, and Vega’s intense, confrontational vocals, Su***de created a stark and unsettling sound that was years ahead of its time. Their minimalist approach drew from garage rock, electronic experimentation, and urban street culture, helping lay the foundation for Punk, Industrial, Synth-Punk, Minimal Synth, and Electronic music. Initially notorious for provoking hostile reactions while opening for more traditional rock acts, the duo later became recognized as one of the most influential and visionary acts to emerge from the New York underground.

CHROME_ Visual Identity (1976-1984)

Chrome emerged from San Francisco’s late-1970s underground as one of the most uncompromising and influential Post-Punk acts, founded by Damon Edge and later defined through his partnership with guitarist Helios Creed. Their music fused Punk aggression with tape manipulation, electronic noise, sci-fi imagery, and psychedelic distortion, creating a chaotic “acid punk” sound that anticipated Industrial and Noise Rock decades before those genres became codified. Edge and Creed worked together during Chrome’s most influential period between 1977 and 1983, before the partnership fractured. Damon Edge later died in 1995.

Just as distinctive was Chrome’s visual identity: their album covers, typography, and performance imagery embraced a cracked futuristic aesthetic filled with collage, dystopian science-fiction references, degraded photography, and underground comic-book energy. That visual language mirrored the band’s music, abrasive, disorienting, and technologically haunted, helping establish Chrome as not only a sonic outlier but also a defining aesthetic force within experimental Post-Punk culture.
