The Chinese proverb 一日三秋 (yì rì săn qiú, one day, three autumns) describes a feeling of longing, yearning, and the resulting perceived slow passage of time. Based on this proverb, Daniel Kujawas short film tells the story of two people (played by Kotone Yoshimatsu and Dimitrios Tasidis) and their exploration of love, longing, and the seemingly endlessy slow passing of time: the proverbial feeling of three autumns (played by Haruka Tomatsu ). The dance scenes are underscored by soundscapes such as the rustling of paper, and soft piano passages composed by Shinichiro Ikeda . Alongside, Kujawa is creating a collection that serves in part as costume design, interpreting this feeling abstractly in the colors black, beige, and red. The traditional Chinese creeping knot (攀緣結, pân yuán jié), with its three loops, subtly adorns the items of the collection as a lucky charm. Together with artists Runa Ikeda and Sibylla Stadelmayer, he is transforming the Mommsen35 gallery in Berlin-Charlottenburg into not just a showroom, but a place to gather; inviting 14 artists from diverse disciplines to share their own performative
interpretations of „Three Autumns in One Day.“ For nine weeks, the artists will present dance, song, live music, theater,
and performance art.
