Dzaino 자이노 DZAINO is a Berlin based label for bags and backpacks by Julia Hermesmeyer and Hanna Sin Gebauer who started collaborating in 2014.

Dzaino is a Berlin based upcycling label for bags and accessories. All bags are unique handmade items, produced in Berlin and made out of textile waste. The production of Dzaino bags is fair, transparent, local and social.

🚨 Halloooo wir sind’s mal wieder von Dzaino. Und wir haben crazy Neuigkeiten für euch: Dzaino verändert sich! Undzwar sehr 😱 und undzwar so, dass es das Taschen Upcycling Business hinter Dzaino bald so nicht mehr geben wird. 😭 ! Aber man soll aufhören wenn es am schönsten ist 🤣 ( ****it) 😅 ABER Dzaino hört nicht auf, Dzaino wird was neues! 🥰🥰🥰 Was genau, erzählen wir dann mal. Es wird weiterhin um Design, Handwerk und coole Projekte gehen, auch mit Kooperationen und vielleicht auch mal was ganz anderes 🎉. Was bleibt: diese super Insta Account, das Logo, die Dzaino Liebe und wir dahinter natürlich: & (💙💙)
Daher fühlt sich das für uns irgendwie auch gar nicht so neu an. Könnte aber auch daran liegen, dass das für uns natürlich gar keine Neuigkeiten mehr sind, sondern alles von langer Hand geplant und gut durchdacht ist.
Wir werden hier also einen Cut machen und ihr werdet sehen, dass dieser Account sich verändern wird - auch wenn man es kaum glauben kann, aber vielleicht wird’s jetzt noch spannender hier 😁

A change of perspective can be 🤯. Why? Read here 👉
We are often asked „What is special about Dzaino“? And then we start and talk about the reuse of textile waste, the local production in collaboration with workshops for people with disabilities ( and Delphin Werkstätten) and independent seamstresses like wonderful , we explain where we get the materials from (mostly ), we talk about the bike messengers who do transportation in Berlin for us ( ), we explain the smart details our products are designed with, the quality of the handcrafts, the minimalist design and the effort we put in combining patchwork pieces into one bag,....and we can go on and on and talk more and more (collaborations, special editions, pre- and post consumer waste,...) about how we work at Dzaino.
And then, some days ago someone told me, that the special thing about Dzaino is us, Julia and me, the founders, designers, managers and women for everything behind the brand. Well, from the outside perspective this might be obvious (really??), but, when you are sitting in the inside, this simple sentence can kind of blow your mind 🤯☺️.

Unique handcrafted items is what we really love. That’s why the one-if-a-kind Patchwork throws are our favourites and most precious products. It always takes more time than expected and we loose ourselves in seeing more and more beautiful Patchwork combinations during the process. Each patchwork blanket is an art piece, don’t you think? (Imagine it hanging on a wall 😍)
