Before there’s a shoe, there’s the last.

In bespoke shoemaking, the last is the wooden form every shoe is built around, shaped precisely to the wearer’s foot. Width, arch, posture, toe shape, pressure points, even the way someone walks – all of it is considered here. It determines not only how a shoe fits, but also how it feels, how it moves, and even how it looks once finished.

Every last in our workshop is shaped and adjusted by hand, then refined over multiple fittings until things sit exactly as they should.

A lot of work for something the wearer never actually sees. Which is usually a sign that it’s doing its job properly.

If you know us, you know we have a soft spot for western boots.

Our latest addition: a bespoke calf leather boot featuring intricate floral inlay work and stitching based on a pattern from the 1960s. The obvious detail is the high heel. The less obvious one took considerably more work: extending the floral pattern from the tops down into the vamps, where it normally never goes.

An unnecessary amount of work, objectively speaking. But very worth it visually.

Spring means lighter fabrics, longer evenings, and finally a reason to bring the slippers back out. It‘s always nice for us to see how differently people wear them –with denim, tailoring, linen, bare ankles, or however else feels right.

Some gadgets solve problems, others just make life a bit better. This one does both.

Our 2-in-1 cardholder is handcrafted from French goat leather in shadow green. 2-in-1 because it also happens to be a shoehorn. Slim enough for the pocket, sturdy enough to save your heel counters, and oddly satisfying to pull out.

Somewhere between practical accessory and small conversation piece. A little like an old FBI badge holder, just significantly more useful for getting into loafers. Finished by hand in Berlin and made in limited numbers, naturally.

This is exactly the kind of detail that only works in bespoke. For this pair, the brief was simple: add a small surprise.

So we gilded the sole in 22-carat gold. Not something you notice immediately. But then again, that’s the point.

The shoe itself: a single monk strap loafer we made a few years back. Cut from crust boxcalf, meaning undyed leather, and finished by hand in our workshop, with the colour built up slowly to the exact tone it needed.

The big picture matters. But the details usually decide it.

A line of stitching placed exactly where it should be. A toe bug with a bit more character. A gilded sole, choice of leather no one else would have picked. Small things, perhaps – until they’re not.

It’s also one of the most enjoyable parts of bespoke: getting specific.Because this is where a shoe stops being just well made, and starts becoming personal.

A Wholecut is known as one of the most elegant shoes there is. This one happens to be one of the most comfortable, too.

Made from a single piece of oiled nubuck leather, with almost no seams, it keeps the clean lines the style is known for. But fewer seams do more than sharpen the look – they also make a shoe easier to wear. Less stitching, fewer pressure points. Finished with a soft rubber sole that takes this shoe’s comfort from impressive to slightly excessive.

Elegant on paper. Dangerous in practice. Because once a shoe feels this good, you may stop wearing anything else.

A Chelsea boot, but with a bit more presence.

Cut from ’s Chamois leather – rich, textured, and made to age beautifully – this bespoke pair leans into a slightly bulkier silhouette. A squarer toe, a touch more heft, nothing loud, just enough to give it character.

Otherwise, it’s exactly what a Chelsea should be: clean, simple, purposeful. The kind of boot that doesn’t try to hard, it simply gets it right.
