Real talk, this week did not go as planned for my Snuggle Me! Sweater and Karla Mittens…

Life happened and the needles barely moved. But I already cleared my weekend and I am planning a proper knitting session on both.

The Obvious Sweater knitting pattern is live! Since I’ve been wearing it constantly for the past few weeks, I figured it’s time to tell you more about it.

I wanted a sweater that does exactly what its name says, no hidden tricks, just really good proportions and a construction that makes sense the moment you look at it. Sometimes the most obvious idea is the hardest one to actually get right.

I reworked the shoulder area when the sweater was almost finished because it just wasn’t sitting right. I’d originally planned a raglan construction, but ended up here instead: the saddles are knitted first, then you pick up from there and keep working. The construction, the cut, the details, all of it with this yarn, I really love this combo and i‘m what you think! what catches your eye first, the cut, the construction, or the details?

Gingham is one of those patterns I can’t leave alone. Not just since this fall, more like for years now.

When I started translating this pattern into knitting, I immediately thought: this needs to become mittens. And since mittens are such a small, cute accessory I wanted them seamless too.

These are the Karla Mittens, one of five patterns from the KREMKE Yarns - Modern fibers from Germany. For those who care. x KNITTING PATTERNS DESIGNER collaboration. The checkered pattern is knitted using seamless intarsia, worked in rows rather than truly in the round, but still with no seams. No floats, no bulky wrong side, and the pattern looks the same on both sides, without using a double stitch like a lot of other seamless intarsia in the round techniques do.

Can we take a moment for this neckline. and the details…. i mean, really!

The Obvious Sweater is dropping next week and this one has been such a fun design to work on. Clean silhouette, considered details and a neckline i keep coming back to look at.

Here’s what you need to know before it lands: the pattern comes in sizes XS to 5XL, fitting a finished chest circumference of 106 to 184 cm. If you already know your gauge on 4.5mm needles in stockinette should be 18 sts and 24 rows, you’re basically ready to cast on the moment it drops.

Anzeige | My sample is knitted in Como Grande in Carmine (col. 33) by LAMANA , which is such a beautiful yarn for this design. Yarn amounts are still being confirmed by my test knitters but will land somewhere around 450, 500, 550 (600, 600-650, 700) 700-750, 800, 850 g depending on your size.

A great mix of materials is kind of my love language.

The Plum Line Sweater combines a shiny pink yarn with a marled, fluffy mohair (knitted with three strands held together) and honestly the contrast just works. the colors make it even stronger.

It’s a quick knit and perfect if you’re past the beginner stage but not quite ready for the complicated stuff. that sweet spot is my favorite to design for.

Ah and please scroll to the last slide. the shoulder line detail is doing a lot!
