Vintage fabrics and upcycled fashion can look timelessly chic when styled with a modern eye. This book shows how to appreciate fashion, build confidence, and find inspiration to wear vintage pieces, heirlooms, and one-of-a-kind upcycled items creatively. Sustainable fashion is not approached through a dogmatic “eco” lens, but brought to life through stories, emotions, appreciation, and creativity—sparking a desire to rethink the way we dress.

The time has come: we are using the fresh start of the new year to introduce an exhibition series within the book project AMARAN – Textures of Life.

The series opens this week on January 14, 2026, with a small but refined exhibition at the Collectors Atelier in Pullach/Munich.

On view will be previously unpublished photographs by Johanna Link .link outtakes that did not make it into the book, but are pieces of art and perfectly suited for a gallery setting.

The exhibition, which is powered by runs from January 14 to February 20, 2026, with a book reading event on January 29.

Two years later, between Christmas and New Year‘s Eve, we are sitting on two bar stools, and Sinah tells me about her book idea. A little seedling (I love plants – I used to stick everything in the ground just to see what might grow) – not yet knowing what kind of plant it would become.

It’s been a crazy, freaky, creative year with an amazing outcome! A book that can be reprinted over and over, multiplied, able to reach lots of people. To inspire and to tell stories — Fabric Stories.

As a bonus perk, for you to be inspired and touched this holiday season, here’s an excerpt from our book AMARAN – Textures of Life — to remember that everything happens for a reason and will come in time. Love, Sinah & Johanna ❤️

THE FABRIC THAT WAS DESTINED TO BE ON STAGE:
This fabric had a dream — it wanted to be on stage! For decades, it lay carefully wrapped in silk paper on top of its owner’s wardrobe — a woman who worked in the cutting department of a dress factory in Hadamar, Germany, in the 1970s. Back then, she took the remnants of this special fabric home with her.
She knew she had to keep it – that it‘s time would come. In the summer of 2022, now dependent on a walker, she brought it to my studio. Together with her daughter and me, she made the journey there, determined to see her heartfelt wish fulfilled: that the fabric finally be put to use.
Two decades later, on December 7, 2024, it shone as a two-piece suit in the Hofkirche in Munich – worn on stage by actress Brigitte Hobmeier , fitting the evening‘s theme: „ALL FOR THE SAKE OF LOVE - Music and Words on an Eternal Topic.“
