Together with we had the chance to pilot the H|H Collection as case study for new possibilities of zero waste whole garment manufacturing.
Based on Holly's PhD we created a prototype designed to reduce post weaving confection while highlighting the potential for the HILO yarn system to add functionality and aesthetic interest. The dress comes off the loom 90% fully formed, only a cutting of key areas and sewing two straight seams is required to enable the form.
Within the project we explored the requirements for our yarns to be used with industrial textile machinery, such as weaving jacquard looms. To increase our yarn qualities and to avoid yarn breaking, we developed the new HILO Spinning Machine 3.0 to achieve the industry standards for small-scale production.
Thank you to WORTH Partnership Project and our mentor for this opportunity to grow our collaborations.
