The School of Arts, Design and Architecture (ARTS) is an institution of higher education for design, media, architecture, motion picture, art education and art. The current key areas of research are design, digital media, audiovisual representation, art, visual culture, welfare architecture and emerging technologies as well as urban planning and design. The school produces specialists and innovators of art, design and architecture with strong artistic and technical skills.
Department of Design is an academic community of approximately 850 students, 70 doctoral students and 70 faculty members. The department conducts research and provides education in bachelor, master and doctoral programmes across a broad range of subjects and themes. The Department of Design is part of School of Arts, Design and Architecture (Aalto ARTS), located on the Otaniemi campus. The QS Rankings put Aalto ARTS to 7th place in the world (2020). We are looking for a:
Postdoctoral researcher and Doctoral candidate (2 positions) for a project on: NEW COTTON
The main objective of the New Cotton project is to move towards closed loop material flows in the textile and fashion sector and in this way enhance the circular economy practices in this industrial sector. The project will create an ecosystem around textile/fashion circulation and it aims to demonstrate the textile /fashion circulation in industrial level. Several industry and business partners are involved in this project. The research in Aalto ARTS will focus on ecosystem building between stakeholders, value creation in circular economy and new business thinking through network approach and in circular economy context.
The project is funded by EU special programme for Innovative textiles – reinventing fashion. Positions are located in Fashion/Textile FUTURES research group, which is led by Associate Professor Kirsi Niinimäki
