SUNKEN CATHEDRAL
Good evening :)
Time for a backview of this piece.
Also I didn't tell you much about it this corset, just that I did it for the Foundations Revealed Contest.
The theme was "Architecture" and even if I always adored especially gothic architecture, somehow inspiration didn't struck me for a long while. Only the moment I saw a painting of a hall with an organic tiled floor and big gothic arches it hit me. I was going back to the one source of inspiration which never failed me, the underwater world. I asked myself "why don't I sink a gothic cathedral in the ocean and see what this would look like?"
That's how it started and as the deadline was only three weeks away, I decided not to participate and just do that for my own, without stress. I honestly hadn't that much fun creating a piece in a long while. And as it was going so well and I got so far in only two weeks, I changed my mind and thought I really could do this in time.
The main difficulty was to decide when I had to to what... I sewed a lot of boning channels into place, so I didn't had to stich through applications.
Creating is never a straight line, there is a lot of trial and error, that the final piece doesn't show.
I had a different idea for the hips, which is still brilliant I think, but it wasn't manageable the way I thought it would be and the other way would have taken way too long, so I decided to do something else, invested three hours and noticed that it isn't working either... so, next idea... ;)
Well I managed it in time, finished it at 12am, about six hours before the deadline, took photos and wrote the text in only two hours as I had to go to work at 14am. I slept well that night... :D
If you are interested, I will go more into the design details with the next post.
I wish you a beautiful evening!
