Today is the Global Recycling Day. For us recycling isn’t a date on the calendar — or just one product, one collection, or one initiative.

It’s a mindset.

We’re excited to share our collaboration with Optiqa and its founder, Professor Ondřej Vicena.

Last summer, Professor Ondřej and his family lived in Copenhagen, where he collaborated with Skans - bringing his deep historical and design knowledge as the author of a renowned book on eyewear history and design as well as the store owner of the well curated optical store featuring pre loved frames.

Together, Skans and Optiqa created new frame concepts rooted in the past and reimagined for today — designed to last for generations.

The result of this inspiring collaboration is a unique frame, blending craftsmanship, history, and contemporary design, which will be showcased at Designblok in Prague.

We are very happy to share that SKANS was selected as a finalist for the SILMO Paris 2025 Responsible Company Award.

Being acknowledged at one of the worlds most influential eyewear fairs is both humbling and motivating.

On top of that, Skans was also featured in SILMO Paris special “Good Eyes on the planet” exhibition alongside other brands pushing for positive change in the Eyewear Industry.

We are still a small team, but every decision from materials to designs, to partnerships to how we communicate is made with care and intention.

A huge thank you to the SILMO Paris jury for shining light on one of the most pressing topics of our time - Sustainability, and to everyone who is working hard to make the industry waste-free and emission-free, and to everyone who believes in and supports the work Skans is doing. THANK YOU!
