Summer is finally here. Long days, warm light, and timeless essentials. Handcrafted from vegetable-tanned leather, the Dahlman Sandal is designed to accompany the season and every summer that follows.

Originally created in the Dahlman atelier in 1942, the sandal was inspired by Danish designer and architect Poul Kühl after his travels to India. What began as a simple indoor slipper soon became a favourite among many of Denmark’s leading architects, including Arne Jacobsen and Børge Mogensen. More than eighty years later, its understated design remains remarkably unchanged.

As 3 Days of Design draws to a close, we turn our attention inward.

The last two days, we have celebrated the collaborations, craftsmen, and objects that helped shape Danish design history. Today, we revisit a piece of our own.

Our Arkitekt Belt was originally designed in the 1940s and has remained part of our collection ever since. Defined by its distinctive hook closure and understated aesthetic, it embodies principles that continue to guide our work today: craftsmanship, functionality, and enduring quality.

Over the decades, it became a familiar companion to many of the architects and designers who shaped the Danish modern movement. Among them were Kaare Klint, Arne Jacobsen, and Børge Mogensen, all individuals whose influence continues to define the way we think about design.

More than eighty years later, the Arkitekt Belt remains remarkably unchanged. Not because it belongs to the past, but because thoughtful design has a way of remaining relevant.

Some objects simply endure.

During 3 Days of Design, we celebrate the objects that have shaped Danish design history.

Today, we turn our attention to another iconic collaboration. Børge Mogensen’s the Hunting Chair.
It was a created in close partnership with Dahlman, who also handled its production during the first years.

The Hunting Chair embodies Mogensen’s vision of honest materials, functional design, and exceptional craftsmanship and it became a lasting example of Danish furniture design at its finest.

The most enduring design stories are often those built on shared expertise, mutual respect, and a commitment to quality that stands the test of time.

As Copenhagen welcomes another edition of 3 Days of Design, we find ourselves reflecting on a remarkable chapter in Danish design history.

Few know that Dahlman worked closely with architect Kaare Klint during the development of what would become one of the most celebrated pieces of Danish furniture design: the Safari Chair. Through prototypes, material studies, and the first stages of production, a close collaboration emerged.

Among the documents preserved from this period are original workshop notes and calculations, offering a rare glimpse into the meticulous process behind the chair’s creation.

More than historical documents, they reflect a shared dedication to craftsmanship, material understanding, and precision.
