Green business, slow fashion and sustainability at the forefront 🐢🦚💚 Föðurland or ‘fatherland’ is an Icelandic term for woollen underpants or long johns. According to historians the name was given to the ‘old’ itchy Icelandic garment when imports of underwear, made from fancier fabrics began. We use modern soft and breathable fabrics with aerial images to recreate the garment with wordplay and mod

ern techniques. The aerial photographs are taken above Landeyjasandur, a vast sand field where fresh water and glacial rivers interact with the sea in an amazing spectacle.

Föðurland, í merkingunni síðar nærbuxur, var oftast búið til úr ull í gamla daga. Talið er að gamla íslenska varan hafi fengið þetta heiti eftir að farið var að flytja inn nærfatnað úr öðru fínlegra efni. Við notum nútíma efni sem eru mjúk og anda vel með áprentuðum loftmyndum. Þannig er varan óður til gamla föðurlandsins með nútíma tækni. Það er ýmist hægt að nota vöruna eina og sér eða sem undirfatnað til að halda á sér hita. Loftmyndirnar eru teknar yfir Landeyjasandi þar sem ferskvatnsár og jökulár renna saman við hafið og framkalla undravert sjónarspil.
